Greetings everyone,
I have been informed that some of you may not have received the league-wide email sent earlier last week. As a result, I wanted to provide another update here. In addition, a push notification will be sent through the app to ensure all league members are aware of the updated playoff schedule.
All playoff matchups have now been scheduled and published on the website. Please log in to your dashboard to view your team's schedule, as playoff action begins as early as next week.
PLEASE NOTE: There are still regular season games scheduled for tonight and tomorrow that may impact final standings, playoff seeding, and next week's matchups. Please plan accordingly.
Teams participating in the play-in rounds for the following divisions should be advised that, if they advance, they will be required to play on consecutive nights next week:
🏀TD GARDEN
🏀DELTA CENTER
That said, we are doing our best to minimize forfeits and no-shows wherever possible. If your team is unable to field enough players and must forfeit, please submit the forfeit through the team match up page so that your opponents are notified. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We’re wishing all teams the very best of luck as the playoffs begin.
🔶As we get closer to the regular season, please note that there have been a few minor scheduling updates. We encourage you to review your upcoming games to ensure you have the most current up-to-date schedules.
🔷Play-in Games for our Weeknight League will begin as early as Monday June 22nd. Please note that not all divisions will start their playoffs on 6/22. so please check accordingly to your specific division.
🔶Games leading up to the final regular season games may have an impact on standings. This may lead to brackets changing one last time. Please double check your divisional standings and playoff brackets daily by visiting nycbbl.com/playoffs
🔷Playoffs for the Saturday League will begin as early as Saturday June 27th.
🔶Rosters are now locked. Teams considering adding players during the upcoming playoffs should be aware that this may result in automatic forfeits. Substitute players are strictly prohibited in the playoffs, and any team found in violation will incur an automatic loss. To be eligible for the playoffs, all players must have participated in at least three (3) regular season games, unless a medical exemption applies.
🔷As a daily reminder of this rule change, the clock will no longer stop if a team is leading by more than 10+ points in the last 90 seconds. This is to prevent unnecessary, unsportsmanlike fouls in the closing moments of a game that is no longer in reach. Under the two-minute mark of the game, any two (2) team/personal fouls will trigger the '1 and 1' bonus. Please review the league rules here
🔶Please be aware that schedules, including game start times, are subject to change due to school and facility programming. We appreciate your understanding and assure you that I will make every effort to keep everyone informed of any necessary adjustments.
🔷Players are strongly encouraged to wear their NYCBBL jerseys during the playoffs. Players who do not have their NYCBBL jerseys can be subjected to technical fouls at the start of the game.
🔶 At this time, there are no guests permitted at the following facilities: Midtown Arena, Town School, Loyola School. This is a non-negotiable request from the gyms and school itself. Thank you for your understanding. If guests somehow get into the building, they will be asked to leave, or your team may not be allowed in to participate in the game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's been great watching so many teams compete across our 16 divisions this Spring. As we approach the playoffs, please be advised that matchups will be regularly updated on nycbbl.com/playoffs, with games being posted as seedings are adjusted daily.
It is important to understand that there are significant constraints on accommodating every team's preferences. Playoff scheduling does not adhere to priority scheduling, meaning your team will likely need to play at the designated time according to the bracket, unless I can offer flexibility. In short, playoff scheduling are firm unless subjected to gym schedule changes or blackouts
This approach helps prevent scheduling conflicts for other teams that have arranged their games around the playoffs. Predicting playoff match ups in advance is challenging, and they may not be finalized until the very last game of the season, so please plan accordingly and keep up-to-date on the standings
