NYC Basketball is excited to announce our 2015 winter Stuytown League on “The Courts.” This league is only open to Stuytown residents and guests. “The Courts” are the Stuytown outdoor basketball courts, which are then covered and heated. The winter season will start on January 11th 2016. It will be an 11 game season with a guaranteed playoff game. The team fee for the winter season is $1,695 while free agents are $169. The free agent placement game will take place on January 4th, 2016. All placement games will take place during the last week of December.
Additionally, NYC Basketball will be creating open runs all winter on "The Courts." Open runs will be $4 for league members and $8 for non-league members. Open run participants will also get to utilize our stat and analytics capabilities as NYC Basketball will be providing stats after each run.
We are excited to announce that we are now offering open run basketball on some of New York's nicest basketball courts. We have had countless conversations where members have requested that we offer open runs and we are pleased to be able to meet these requests. All open runs will take place on the premium, private basketball courts that the league is known for. We will also offer periodic open runs at the Barclays Center and hopefully at other famous court locations in the NYC area... You can sign up for our open runs on our website here. We are starting off with a limited number of games but we hope to add more games in the near future. If you have a request for a game in a certain area or an idea for how we can add to our open run offerings for members we'd love to hear from you.
We are excited to announce that we will be using some of the nicest private basketball courts in Manhattan for our 2015 winter season. You can see locations and pictures of all of the facilities that we play at here. All of our facilities have full sized basketball courts and they are located in convenient locations between 10th & 95th St. The quality of our gyms is one of the main things that league members bring up when they explain why we are the #1 League in New York.
In addition to adding more premium, private gyms into the mix we have also announced some other unique benefits for the 2015 winter season. Every division will have its finals at the Barclays Center and we will be using our newly upgraded instant stats engine to produce advanced stats, shot charts, and player efficiency rankings after each game. Odds to Win & Point Spread Algorithm
We have added a dynamically updating odds to win algorithm for each game you have coming up. After doing an analysis of 1000's of past league games we designed the algorithm to take several factors into account for each team including your teams pre-season skill ranking, the strength of your completion and how you did against them, whether your team is balanced or dependent on certain players, and which players have RSVP'd to the game (players with higher efficiency rankings will have more impact on your odds to win). After you RSVP for a game the odds will update with the new knowledge that you are going to be playing. Typically 1 player RSVP'ing will raise the odds to win from .5% to 5% depending on the strength of the player, the players importance to the team, and the number of players already RSVP'd for each team.
Player Efficiency Rankings
Our algorithms look at 10 statistical categories to assess your overall statistical efficiency ranking and percentile compared to other players in your division or league. We also rank you in each category and give you your percentile in your best category.
Shot Chart And Shooting Efficiency Stats
We have added shooting efficiency stats to out shot chart. You can now see your points per shot (pps) and effective fielg goal percentage (EFG%) for each game you play in.
